Harvesting Operations Quick Recap

Big Cedar Lake Protection & Rehabilitation District Weed Harvesting Operations began on June 16, 2025.

We have removed just over 46 full trailer loads of aquatic vegetation through September 13, 2025.

That's 414,810 lbs. of weeds or 246.106358 cubic yards!

Big Cedar Lake is a 937-acre lake with depths reaching 105 feet on the south end.

Gilbert Lake is a 44-acre lake with a maximum depth of 9 feet.

The BCLPRD is allowed to mechanically harvest 434 acres of the 937 acres that Big Cedar Lake covers per the current Mechanical Harvesting Permit issued by the WI DNR.

The current permit was granted on June 17, 2024 and expires on December 31, 2028.

Weed Harvesting | Big Cedar Lake Protection & Rehabilitation District

Our Aquatic Plant Management Plan is available to review along with the WI DNR current weed harvesting permit.

The Operations Committee will also be meeting to go over 2025 harvesting operations in review and to request feedback to help improve the harvesting operations on the lake.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. at the BCLPRD Office at 4480 Gonring Drive.
