Aquatic Plant Management Plan Public Comment Request

In February 2023, the District and Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission executed an agreement that the Commission would conduct aquatic plant surveys of Big Cedar and Gilbert lakes and prepare an aquatic plant management plan.

SEWRPC Commission staff conducted the surveys in July and August 2023 and have used the survey results to develop a draft aquatic plant management plan with incorporated comments from the Big Cedar Lake District and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

This plan summarizes recent aquatic plant surveys of the lakes, discusses options to manage invasive species populations while protecting sensitive native species, and provides recommendations for long-term aquatic plant management, including monitoring strategies, treatment techniques, and potential grant funding.

We are inviting public comments on the aquatic plant management plan. The plan can be found at the following link.
